Canettes alu ou bouteilles en verre : Quel impact écologique ?

Courrier International (N°841 du 14 au 20 décembre 2006) reprend un article du Guardian qui compare l'impact écologique de ces deux type d'emballage.
Les données issues d'un programme britannique pour encourager le recyclage des matériaux [WRAP - Waste and Ressources Action Program], indiquent que la fabrication d'une canette d'aluminium consomme 9 fois plus d'énergie que la fabrication d'une bouteille en verre.
En outre, la bauxite utilisée dans la fabrication des canettes alu implique un processus d'extraction qui peut avoir un effet plus préjudiciable à l'environnement que l'utilisation du sable, de la soude et de la chaux nécessaires pour fabriquer du verre.

It does not follow that because we do not subsidize smoking, we should not regulate unhealthy activities. Costs and savings are not the only variable. The fact that obesity creates costs is merely an additional reason to regulate it, not the only one. The main reason is its danger to an individual. You are dismissive of subsidizing smoking precisely because of this moral intuition.
